GUATEMALA MISSION PROJECT: 2 SPONSORED CHILDREN & ADVENT APPEAL
St. Thomas’ Church has donated $1,200 to
the Safe Passage program for educating children of the garbage dump in Guatemala
City. That means the church will be sponsoring two children for one year:
Mynor Alexander Jam Ical is 10 years old, and his birthday is December 30.
Halen Lorena Sabana Tipaz
is 5 years old; her birthday is currently unknown.
Background profiles and photographs of both children will be sent to us soon. The Mission Committee will develop plans for coordinating letter-writing and gift-giving, from the children and families of our parish. In the meantime, during the Advent season, donations of supplies are requested – not particularly for our two sponsored children, but for the program in general. Alexis Wolterbeek will be going to Guatemala in January, for a few months of Spanish-language immersion, schooling, and cultural exploration. Her parents Jake and Ky will accompany her, making a side visit to Safe Passage to deliver our church’s Advent gifts.
Suitable donations include: Health needs, such as lice shampoo, disposable
diapers, baby wipes, q-tips; School & art supplies, such as color markers,
children’s scissors, construction paper; Toys & board games.
Please continue to donate to our Porque Pig on Sundays!
